Hello girls, I'm pleased to inform you that, time to time, I will devote a guest post
by one of the many shops found on Etsy. It's not really a news, but this time will be
the directly affected to speak a little of themselves and their shops. I have a long
waiting list of vendors anxious to be here, so I start today to present you Nancy of
White Earth Studio, a store where this creative girl exhibits and sells items from her
handmade white ceramics, that I love, and where everything is inspired by nature.
But now Nancy is anxious to tell us her story and to be known overseas.
How and when did you start creating your own objects?
I grew up on a farm near the Canadian border in North Dakota. The isolation gave me
lots of time to appreciate the beauty found in nature. Since my childhood I have loved
to create things. My first memory may be of making and decorating mud pies with lilac
and dandelion blossoms.I took ceramics classes in college and after many years have not
come close to exploring all of the ideas I have.
Where do you get inspiration?
I have worked with clay for the last 30 years and feel that I will never come close
to exhausting all of the inspiration and ideas I find surrounding me. My work is a
reflection of the natural forms I find in my garden, on walks, in the produce section
of the grocery store. It could be a snow drift, it could be a tree fungus for a tulip bulb.
I never know until there it is...right in front of me. My most recent favorite quote is
by August Rodin "To the Artist there is never anything ugly in nature".
How would you describe your style?
My style is definely organic but also modern.

Buongiorno ragazze, ho il piacere di comunicarvi che periodicamente dedicherò un
guest post ad uno degli innumerevoli shops presenti su Etsy. Non è proprio una novità,
lo avevo già fatto, solo che questa volta saranno i diretti interessati a raccontarvi un po'
di loro stessi e delle loro graziose botteghe. Ho una lunga lista di attesa di venditori ansiosi
di essere qui, quindi inizio oggi presentandovi Nancy di White Earth Studio. Qui la creatrice
espone e vende oggetti da lei realizzati a mano con la ceramica bianca, che io adoro, e tutto
si ispira alla natura. Ma questo lo lascio raccontare a Nancy che è ansiosa di farsi conoscere
anche oltre oceano.
Come hai iniziato a creare i tuoi lavori?
Sono cresciuta in una fattoria vicino al confine canadese nel North Dakota. Il luogo isolato
mi ha dato un sacco di tempo per apprezzare le bellezze presenti in natura. Fin dalla mia
infanzia ho amato creare cose. Il mio primo ricordo risale a quando decoravo torte di
fango con lilla e fiori di tarassaco. Ho preso lezioni di ceramica al college e dopo molti anni
mi sono avvicinata a realizzare le idee che ho oggi.
Da dove trai ispirazione?
Ho lavorato l'argilla negli ultimi 30 anni e sento che non si esaurirà mai l'ispirazione
e le idee che trovo in ciò che mi circonda. Il mio lavoro è il riflesso delle forme naturali
che trovo nel mio giardino, nelle passeggiate, nel reparto ortofrutta del supermercato.
Potrebbe essere un fungo, un bulbo di tulipano, la neve...Non lo so mai fino a quando non
è proprio davanti a me. La mia citazione preferita è di August Rodin "Per l'artista non
c'è mai qualcosa di brutto in natura."
Come descriveresti il tuo stile?
Il mio stile è decisamente organico, ma anche moderno.
